Oxygen Supplement
What is the Oxygen Supplement?
The Oxygen Supplement is a daily government payment added to your Support at Home budget to cover the cost of medically required oxygen equipment and administration.
For people who require continuous oxygen therapy, this supplement helps ensure essential equipment costs do not reduce the funding available for everyday care and support.
Once approved, this daily amount is added to your Support at Home budget to help cover the costs of equipment and administration.
Eligibility Requirements for the Oxygen Supplement
To be eligible, you must have a long-term medical need for continuous oxygen. Your provider must demonstrate they are supplying the equipment (owned or hired) and hold a medical certificate from a doctor or nurse practitioner confirming the ongoing need.
How Much Is The Oxygen Supplement?
The Oxygen Supplement is currently $14.66 per day, paid directly into your Support at Home budget.
This rate is indexed each year on 1 July, which means it may increase over time in line with government adjustments.
How To Apply For The Oxygen Supplement
Your Support at Home provider applies for this supplement on your behalf. They submit the application and upload the required documents (such as the medical certificate) to Services Australia.
Once approved, the supplement continues even if you change providers (no re-application needed).
Example Of The Oxygen Supplement In Action
Pauline has severe COPD and requires continuous oxygen therapy at home. Her provider submits a medical certificate confirming her condition and supplies the required equipment.
Once approved, an additional $14.66 per day is added to her Support at Home budget. This covers her oxygen-related costs, allowing her core funding to remain available for daily care and support.
Enteral Feeding Supplement
What is the Enteral Feeding Supplement?
The enteral feeding supplement supports people who cannot eat by mouth and require tube feeding. This funding ensures that the cost of essential nutritional formula and equipment does not deplete the standard care budget.
Eligibility Requirements For The Enteral Feeding Supplement
You may be eligible if you require full enteral (tube) feeding and cannot meet your nutritional needs by mouth.
To support an application, you must have:
- A medical certificate from a doctor confirming the need for enteral feeding
- Confirmation from a doctor or dietician that the prescribed formula is nutritionally complete
This supplement does not apply to oral supplements or partial feeding arrangements.
How Much Is The Enteral Feeding Supplement?
The Enteral Feeding Supplement is paid daily and added to your Support at Home budget.
There are two payment rates depending on how the feeding is delivered:
- Bolus feeding: $23.25 per day (feeding given at set intervals)
- Non-bolus feeding: $26.11 per day (continuous or pump feeding)
How To Apply For The Enteral Feeding Supplement
You do not need to apply yourself. Your Support at Home provider manages the process for you.
They will:
- Submit the application through Services Australia
- Upload required documents, including medical and dietitian certifications
Example Of The Enteral Feeding Supplement In Action
Doug requires non-bolus tube feeding during his recovery from a stroke. His provider submits both a medical certificate and dietician confirmation that his formula is nutritionally complete.
Once approved, an additional $26.11 per day is added to his Support at Home budget. This covers the cost of his feeding formula and equipment, allowing his core funding to remain available for other care needs.
Veterans’ Supplement
What is the Veterans’ Supplement?
The veterans’ supplement provides top-up funding for veterans with service-related mental health conditions, acknowledging the need for additional or specialised support. This supplement is automatically applied for qualifying participants.
Eligibility Requirements For The Veterans’ Supplement
You are eligible if you are a veteran with a mental health condition accepted by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) as related to your service. In many cases, this eligibility is checked automatically between government systems.
How Much Is The Veterans’ Supplement?
The Veterans’ Supplement is calculated as 11.5% of your daily Support at Home funding level.
This means:
- The higher your assessed care level, the higher the dollar value of the supplement
- The payment increases in line with your overall funding classification
Example Of The Veterans’ Supplement In Action
Barry is a veteran with a DVA-accepted service-related condition. Because he is assessed at a higher classification level, his 11.5% supplement provides a significant boost to his budget, allowing his provider to deliver care tailored to his specific background.
Remote Supplement
What is the Remote Supplement?
The Remote Supplement is a funding increase added to Assistive Technology and Home Modifications (AT-HM) budgets for people living in remote or very remote areas of Australia.
It helps cover the higher costs of delivering equipment, trades, and services in regional locations.
This supplement is automatically applied for qualifying participants.
Eligibility Requirements For The Remote Supplement
You may be eligible if:
- You have funding under an Assistive Technology and Home Modifications (AT-HM) tier
- You live in a remote or very remote area classified as Modified Monash Model (MMM) 6 or 7
MMM classifications are used by the Australian Government to define how remote a location is and the access to services.
How Much Is The Remote Supplement?
Eligible participants receive a 50% loading on top of their standard AT-HM tier funding.
Example Of The Remote Supplement In Action
Evelyn lives in a remote town classified as MMM 6 and requires bathroom modifications under her AT-HM funding.
Due to the high travel costs for tradespeople, her standard funding would not be enough. With the 50% Remote Supplement applied, her available budget increases, making the required safety upgrades achievable.
Is The Dementia and Cognition Supplement Still in Effect Under the Support at Home Program?
Generally, no but with one exception.
The Support at Home program incorporates support for cognitive decline directly into its 8 classifications, meaning most people will not receive a separate dementia supplement.
The Exception: If you transitioned from a Home Care Package and were receiving (or were eligible for) the dementia and cognition supplement as of 31 October 2025, you will continue to receive it. However, if you are later re-assessed and move to a new Support at Home classification, this separate payment will cease.
New Support Pathways Under Support at Home
Support at Home introduces dedicated pathways for short-term and specialised needs:
- Restorative Care Pathway: Up to 16 weeks of support (approx. $6,000 funding) to help you regain independence after illness or injury.
- End-of-Life Pathway: Specific funding ($25,000 over 12 weeks) for people diagnosed with 3 months or less to live, facilitating palliative care at home.
- Assistive Technology and Home Modifications (AT-HM) Scheme: Separate funding tiers for equipment and safety modifications, refreshed annually.
