To apply for a Home Care Package, you need to complete an ACAT assessment through My Aged Care and an income and assets test via Services Australia (Centrelink). You can arrange an ACAT assessment by calling My Aged Care at 1800 200 422 or by requesting a referral from your healthcare provider in the Northern Territory.
To qualify for a Home Care Package, you must be 65 years or older (or 50+ if you are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander) and need assistance to live independently at home.
Funding Levels for Home Care Packages
Home Care Packages are available across four levels, to cover different levels of care. Each level provides a specific annual budget and an estimated number of weekly care hours. The funds from a Home Care Package are intended for services and supports directly related to your care needs. They cannot be used to cover everyday living expenses such as rent, groceries, or entertainment.

What Can Home Care Package Funds Be Used For?
The funds from a Home Care Package are intended for services and supports related to your care needs. They cannot be used to cover routine living expenses such as rent, groceries, or entertainment.
